when the world just isn't right
when you feel like its all a sham
lift your head
take a look around
hug me tight
and remember that you're a hit in my eyes

not everyone has to like you
just the ones that matter
you
me

the tears on your cheeks
they don't look sad when you smile
diamonds on your face
if i were to touch one
i would capture it
but only for one fragile moment
then it would disappear

you don't believe me when i say you're my better half
you don't get how i could put you before me
how i could stand in your shadow
the thing you don't understand is that you are my sun
so long as you are near me
there are no shadows

not everyone has to like it
just the ones that matter
you
me

have you ever seen
in a field of pure snow
a single bloom raising its face towards the frail sun?
i am that flower
you are that sun
no matter the odds
me in that field
and you up above

just the ones that matter
you
me
