with anise chopsticks
three pickles swiftly eaten
a lingering taste

the white kimono
sleeves drawn and slightly open
hand clasps kozuka

a gleaming sword raised
as the honored blade awaits
a quick piercing thrust

the perfect beauty –
red blossoming on the white
hold for the signal

then sudden bladesong
as a final breath cut short
head dangles backward

the revered blade true
as a glistening scarlet
pulses its farewell

Culinary

You are certainly a culinary poet but you are never bland and never bore the palate!
