You say that I have changed
  not for the worse
but then also not for the better.
We all need to grow.

You got too use to what I did,
  what I said,
and what I wrote in every letter.
We all need to evolve.

I did depart for a time
  on my private quest
  for duty, honor, chivalary.
To know myself better.

But upon my return
you said I was not the same.
Then to have you say good bye,
  caused me too much pain.
There are embers burning still.

I feel not much different.
  The 'I' that you knew
  was still very much there.
The quest had only added to me.

You told me that it was not
what was added that you did not like.
But rather what I had lost.

When you finally told me
  just what that was
I understood better, yet not totally.
Even now I do not.

You could have restored to me
  what I had lost.
You chose not to.
We both suffer that decision.

Then on that cold winter night
why did you take from me
what you most wanted me to have?

Remember my dear
I lost my innocence to you.
Now only you can give it back.
