I played your keys today.
Did you hear it?
There was no music
Instead, these keys
played
a,s,d,f
j,k,l,p
Your keyboard left behind
attached to nothing
I ran my fingers across it
where your hands had been
My eyes fluttered,
Feeling you
Your lingering thoughts
Your angry banging
Your impeccable grammar
Your disciplinary punctuation
I typed out a letter
I made a confession
that appeared nowhere
But my heart
I held your hand
I played your keys today.
Did you hear it?
