The shells she sells
Lay shattered on shore
Broken bits of day old dreams
Split bivalves, torn mussels
Mother of pearl, calcified remains
All the alls that have alled before
Gulls they pitch and fury
Yall and call away
Pick at scraps we’ve left behind
Even the tide refused our refuse
So there’s small justice there
The sun shines, the sea rolls
Here on this beach
These rocky rocks
Where we once in wonder loved
Now we stride aside in tandem
A handstrech apart no no more
Our footsteps for the time before
Have all washed themselves away
As our trail behind is taken
By each new coming wave
I have still still memory
But I am slowly dying
Whatever whatever she’s selling now
I am just not buying

One of your better writes

Tripping off my tongue

{but not tripping up}

With nice imagery to boot.

In the beginning I though, who way too much, but kind of like a letterman joke, after a while it was so much it was a good thing. And yes, great ending line

Beautiful

Lovely poem, loved the ending - very punchy and raw
