last night the stars were thick,
and hung only inches from our feet.
their unpolluted luster laid heavier
than the navy blanket pilled by age
pulled over eight naked legs.
we marked our youth,
taking great breaths of night air
in triumph of our abundance.
so finely etched,
our silhouettes and self-perceptions.
curled, curved, tucked within each other
our eyes returned the element, fire to fire.
the sky smudged by some unknown artist
whose charcoals marred the brilliant clarity
bestowed by the lingering call of the loon.

Very nice!

Some striking imagery here: I liked "the triumph of our abundance" and the "fire to fire". Well done!
