Come close,
my friends,
hear me well,
for I shall
recount for you
the final lesson
with my lord,
Casanova.

My lord,
I attend
upon you
by command.
What is your
final teaching
for this, your
unworthy student?

Before leaving
my gracious charge,
after years
of loyal service
and study
so attentive,
you may ask of me
three questions.

My lord,
what is Lust?

Lust is the
force of life
itself.
Lust is the
power of
existence
speaking through
each of us.

My lord,
what is Time?

Time is the
whispering
cruel cold
sound of loss.
Even now it
slowly steals
the gift of Lust,
from your lord.

My lord,
what is Love?

Love is the
nemesis
of Time.
Love is what
comforts us
when Lust slips
from our grasp.
Love is poetry.

And through Love,
we conquer Time.
Forgiveness
changes our past.
Every promise
binds our future.
When Lust forgets,
Love remembers.

My lord,
I do not understand.

You shall
with Time,
apprentice.
Heed my words.
Go from here.
Live with Lust,
beware of Time.
and cherish Love.

Thus, my friends,
I speak in truth
and sorrow.
These sadly were
the last words
given to me
by my lord,
Casanova.

Sharp

Live with Lust

Beware of Time

And cherish Love....

Superb, sharp three lines in an imaginative work.
