When realizations come too late,
It's like waking to a nightmare.
Why know something if it is to no good?
Why feel something,
That is so breathtaking to behold
If in the end you are meant to be numb.
Why hurt when you should feel no pain?
Why cry when you have no tears?
Why convulse with agony
Over what will never come to be...
I'll tell you why...
Cause it could have been so sweet.
If only time could melt away,
And we could go back to yesterday,
With the knowledge we have today.
If only I could've seen,
What I have seen too late.
I can only imagine,
What would have happened then.
But it is only a soft whisper of a dream,
A life we could not have,
It is foolish to dwell on such a thing.
And so now I must lie here all alone,
With haunting desires that shall never come true
Knowing that it is what must be...
That we can never taste the joy,
The bliss of love eternally.
A sweet kiss from heaven
A gift that we shall never receive.
Here we dwell...
In a lifeless existence,
Forever apart, until fate opens a door...
To a life we can only wish for,
A life that only can exist within fantasy,
A life that is never truly meant to be.
Only in dreams are we to be together,
Only in dreams can our feelings be true,
Only in dreams shall we be free,
But in the harsh reality of life,
This forever remains an impossibility.

You've painted it well.
