I
Her nights are dark, her days darker still,
Her world filled with pain and agony,
Disease that makes her ill,
Drugs that make her even sicker.

Oh to go home,
Where the airs clean,
Where the suns bright,
Where the agony will be over.

It's close, the dark before the light,
So close and yet so far away,
When will it end?
When will the pain be over?

II
So dark, so much pain,
Surrounded by love,
By strength,
Just too little, nothing helps.

How much more can she endure?
Wasted away to a frail body,
A body that has fought, a body with only a soul left,
A body that can fight no more.

Little faces surround her bed,
Tears flowing from bright little eyes,
Eyes that can't understand,
Little hearts broken.

III
The dark is getting lighter,
The pain growing less and less,
Each breath becoming easier,
Is this what she prayed for?

The sun so warm upon her face,
Her heart beats strong,
A smile on her ethereal face,
Her body whole again.

She looks down from far away,
"Weep not my little ones"
"For I am there, even though I am here"

The worms that devoured her body,
Gone at last,
The pain,
Gone at last.
