Your golden armor
wrapped snug round my finger
oh my darling
promises symbolized
melted quickly
when the cry came.
It was help
I needed
not someone to take my hand
twist my ring
murmur hush.
It’s not okay
not today
not yesterday
though you think it is.
Where will those thoughts be
when a real knight
shines through my door?
