Late september days
when afternoon hours
seem like forever
held in amber dreams
our springtime tides
when worlds begin again
everything flowering
busting bursting blooms
wet dew mornings
fresh in fresh fine
white cotton and silk
and gone is gone again
in the brink of an eyefull
bees buzz chase and climb
seek in seeking
the wild smells of the day
as together
we teach tease
laugh learn
roll play
in recesses
until the cruel bell
calls us home

and me oh my
I talk and talk
in hue and tone
shade and light
form and flow
you question
and explore
with finger
and pen
drawing lines
daring me to cross

this is our dance
the offered apple
the tender flesh
firm crisp fruit
held to my lips
between my teeth
and gentle to my tongue

a huge thank you to Curiouswife

I had thought I had put in the notes that this piece was inspired by Curiouswife's "schoolgirl's desire" ... but I don't see it in the posting... so I was very glad to see that she enjoyed this and was gracious enough to comment on it. yay! my response to her poem was a sort of rough sketch for this one....

now if only I can learn my lesson....
