Don't know why I reached for you,
I know you won't take the time.
You never really were
there for me.
But let me not deprive you
of one more chance
to take me back to corners
and wet cheeks,
sucking fingers
and slow speech,
just big eyes
held way too wide,
seeing everything
and trying to forget.
Let me not deprive you
of yet another moment
to remind me I feel
what you do not.

As usual,

your poem singles itself out because it seems more real than most of the confessional "I'm pouring my heart out here" stuff that we normally find on the New Poems thread. Having said that, the problem I often have with your poems is that they are too prosaic--i.e., you're basically telling me how you feel, rather than showing me how you feel through imagery that would help me to experience your feelings myself rather than just read about and sympathize with them.

Pretty good poem, though, anyway, as I said.
