Let Us Be Thankful
By Jack Gates.

Goodness me! Why do men travel in space?
When there are still undiscovered treasures here?
Why are we squandering wealth all over the place?
Have you, Tom, fished off the end of your local pier?

Do you know that some people never travel?
They've never left the place where they were born!
They have never forged on a blacksmith's anvil,
handled a new born baby, or been pricked by a thorn.

You may think it's amazing, I assure you it is true.
Just stop and think of the things you haven't done.
For instance, have you sailed on a ship on the ocean blue?
Or flew in an aeroplane to Japan, America or even Taiwan?

They say that man has travelled to the moon and back,
but, has that man been to the bowels of this Earth?
What about you Jill? And what about you Jack?
I'm telling you, this world is yours, for what it's worth.
