We vaccinate, inoculate and medicate,
barriers to keep us safe, protection from,
diseases, viruses and bacteria,
a cough, a sneeze, a handshake spreading poison.
dangers that creep and spread unseen.

We strap on belts and helmets,
test cars, bikes, trucks and eyesight,
we look right, left and right again,
lights show us the way, red, green and amber,
the roads are deadly, waiting, hungry - beware!

Life is dangerous! we insure against,
a slip, a trip, a tumble,
we know the odds it seems for this big gamble,
so when cards are dealt, and dices roll,
We hope our hands a winner.

But there are people, smiling, happy and carefree,
more deadly than the plague,
for the pain and suffering they can inflict,
when they return,opened but unwanted,
the gift of our heart and soul .
