He walked home every night
The same path, the same sidewalk, the same streets
Every night by the same house
Lit from within by a thousand lights
A thousand lives
And every night as he passed by
He would ask himself why

Only for one night, one day, one mystery
It could be him
He could be living in the house of light
Instead of where he lived
The house of darkness
No lights, no warmth, no cheer inside his walls
Just fear and darkness
Night after night

He prayed for he believed in prayer
That one day he would awaken
And be within the house of light
Be born within, live within, and die within
The house of light
But every morning just the same
He woke in his own bed in the house of darkness

Life is funny like that
Wishes are dreams never grasped
Prayers are answered or not
No predictions, fate is unkind
Wake up, live, feed, and die
In the light or in the dark
Life is funny like that

This one is really good;

Missed possibilities ~

As in wishing to be not somewhere else

But someone else.

Thoroughly enjoyed the read.
