i hear the pounding, pounding, pounding of the heavy iron wrecking ball
it is swinging, swinging, swinging and tearing down once solid walls.
it is smashing, smashing, smashing at the solid foundation of my home
i can hear the silent screaming, screaming, and the tortured moans.
the walls are being brutally beaten, and are crumbling from within
why do we have to break it? Can we not rebuild it and try again
why do we have to trash it and destroy what we once built
i hear slamming, slamming, slamming of the battering ram ramming to the hilt.
the windows are cracking, creaking as they tremble from the assault
the bricks are creaking, cracking; mortar crumbling as they come apart
i know i need to hurry, hurry, but i have to see it flattened to the ground.
it was a home of glory; it told a wondrous story; where honor proudly did abound
standing once strong and stalwart among the life it was lent by creative Men.
now it is falling, falling, falling as all arms strain to support it from within
the floor has already crumbled and the roof has finally tumbled
the walls fall to the ground broken, torn, wrecked and jumbled
a song cries we are dying,
why do we keep trying
the plaintive lament fills broken hearts with dread
as the survivors sadly scurry, in a quickened hurry, rushing to bury all their dead.
