I wandered through my life, adrift
it didn't seem I had free will
my spirits had no way to "lift"
(if not for you, I'd be there still)

Then by mere chance, through an old friend
you sent a message, "I am here!"
and did what you did not intend:
you filled my life with love and cheer.

As my love grew with every note
you drew me with your wit and charm.
Each contact caused my heart to float
and slowly my defense disarm.

You've shared my deepest, darkest thoughts
so dark, I've kept them tightly bound
then untied all the binding knots
(an act I would have called unsound).

But when you set my dark self free
you reunited yang and yin
and made a better man of me;
the best man I have ever been.

So now I say without conceit
that you're the yang to match my yin.
But still I know I'm incomplete:
my heart is yours; it's always been.
