She was there in the line
And later she spoke
She was gorgeous and blonde
Red lipstick on the note

We had such a short time then I had to fly
A life just begun
Would she join me?
I hoped.

Letters she wrote
Passion still burnt
My love was safe
Till she joined me

She came and stayed
But briefly
No reason
No why

Silver wings, slick tarmac
My love headed home
Such despair, such longing
Silver drops that wont stop

Why? Betrayed?
Bitch! No not
Love of my life
Gone

Life as usual
You think?
Excuses for a normal existence
As time just passed

Twenty years
Brief touch
Still no repair
No recourse

A mirage
Nothing more
But she will always be
Life’s love lost

For Angie…my soul aches every day for you.
