Sitting in the window,
staring at the rain.

Your voice it echoes in my head,
drowning out the train.

I shiver as the winter wind blows through the shallow panes.

I pull a blanket ‘round myself,
to warm my icy veins.

My blood heats up at thoughts of you,
memories of your embrace.

I shake my head, that can’t be real--
I’ve never seen your face.

I contemplate as thunder claps,
as lightning cracks the sky:

This liquid storm seems out of place,
not unlike you and I.
