Perched on branch
Eyes towards the sky
Little bird determined
She knows it's time to fly

Her toes grasping tightly
To all that she has known
Somehow she must make this leap,
Leave the place she calls home

Oh how her spirit longs
To soar free among the clouds
But fear shakes her her core
And her thoughts it shrouds

She pushes past the fear
She can, she will, she must
So much more is waiting
In this she's placed her trust

Wings spreading quickly
Before she loses nerve
Beating air beneath them
She mounts the sky with verve

Above it all she looks back down
On places she once knew
Relief overtakes her body
Releasing through and through

A whole new world is hers now
Skies so fresh and clear
Adventures and joy surround her
Up in the atmosphere

if you know anything about birds you can see this is not a bird but a human trapped in a bird's body,

anthropomorphic is the word, although it is lovely to hear about birds,

little birds to not think like philosophers, they just jump and on first attempts they gently flutter to earth and being light weight with wings they usually do not injure themselves, this is more in the vein of the little tug boat that tried or the little train that could, also the line below

"So much more is waiting

In this she's placed her trust" does not work very well, a real stinker, forgive me I do not mean to be harsh

She has friends in the skies. She will find her flock.
