Robbing a bank
mid-afternoon
no Nixon mask
no silver spoon,
Escaped on foot
a sack of money
video cameras
life is funny,

Watched it all
stopped at a light
on my way
Monday night,
Dozen roses
bottle of wine
expectations
of feeling fine

I considered paths
we all take
desperation
and birthday cake,
Opened the wine
found a vase
kissed both sides
of her face,

Ate the pasta
a salad too
go to a movie
what should we do?
Watch TV or
climb in the sack
in enemy skies
dodging flack,

We sit on the couch
exhaust the wine
find a position that
feels just fine,
While he counts his money
face “Live at Eleven”
each of us one step
closer to heaven ..
