Living Hell
He tries so hard to do what’s right
But it never seems to be enough
And the rules keep changing day by day
So many things he’s supposed to do
So many more that aren’t allowed
But he’s never supposed to ask…
So every day he does something wrong
He never knows just what it was
Then the blows come raining down on him…
His days are a living hell
His nights are filled with fear
There’s no one there to turn to
No one to trust
So he carries it alone…
Her Daddy comes into her room
And he never even says a word
He just stands there and he stares
There’s no place for her to hide
She’s too afraid to try to move
So she closes her eyes and she prays…
A lifetime later, when he’s done
He rises up, and turns his back on her
He never even sees her silent tears…
Her days are a living hell
Her nights are filled with fear
There’s no one there to turn to
No one to trust
So she carries it alone…
They lie awake in the cold, dark night
Watching the shadows on the wall
They pray that sleep will never come
The moonlight slides across the floor
The tree outside does a ghostly dance
But they’re glad that they’re alone…
They fight so hard to stay awake
But they know it’s just a matter of time
Before the nightmares take them back again…
Their days are a living hell
Their nights are filled with fear
There’s no one there to turn to
No one to trust
So they carry it alone…
No, there’s no one to trust
So they suffer it alone…
