somewhere lurks the soul I yearn for,
deaf to my pleas
calling it out of hiding.
the emptiness is shocking;
never experiencing wholeness,
but knowing the feeling.

a piece of me is lost
eternally, it seems.
gone,
like the wind
and rain of an unexpected summer storm,
suddenly felt,
then not.
the only reminder,
the feeling of rain drops
running down my skin,
but those too disappear;
the yearning for more remains.

I am still alone
a lonely soul
waiting for the other
who makes me whole.
