From my early childhood I have known, that
at the heart of our lives, at the core,
there lies a horror beyond all belief,
beyond all comprehension, which we,
by our living, seek to deny. It is
not death, that horror. Yet death stands as
a signpost, as it were. Death contradicts
the constructions and devices we make
out of thought and desires. Though we avoid
looking at that thing, as we proceed,
our lives and views narrow and constrict.
Then we, gradually, eventually are
forced to turn our heads, to look,
then to see.
