Lost

The walls are closing in around me
I cannot find my place
And all the while I am searching
For your familiar face
And when I think I’ve found it
I know that it’s all wrong
For you’ve changed your countenance
From the one I’ve known so long.
Everything is unfamiliar
And wrought with hidden danger
With trepidation and fear
I watch you turn into a stranger
Who tears apart my world
With strangely gentle hands
Who breaks me into pieces
While claiming you understand.
We move on together
Still as everyone once knew
Only we know the changes
And how we’ve started to move.
One day we’ll be back
To the place we were before
And then we’ll move on together
To something even more;
But for now my tears are falling
My vulnerability shows through
You see the fear in my eyes
When you make me look at you.
When such trust has been broken
Can it then be rebound
When we have lost each other
One day can we be found?
