In times now long forgotten
You watched me as I grew,
A golden child, the elders
Had promised unto you.
A warlord proud and powerful,
Each virgin yours to take,
But this child was special
To cosset not to break.
When grown enough, his childbride
Displaying all her charms,
Was laid upon a bed of furs
And gathered in his arms.
Shown how to please her master
As only he could teach,
But the gods came for her early
And took her out of reach.
Now he searches through the centuries
For his golden headed one,
And we have found each other
But is your searching done?
You cannot have me darling
And nor can I have you,
If not this world - the next one
I'll be waiting there for you.

I agree with Ange

Doing this type of verse well isn't easy. This is lovely. Another gem.

This is lovely!

Moving and bittersweet. You really make rhyme work for you, something few writers can achieve. :)
