I can love. Just not the way you want me to. I will not yearn to feel your arms around me, or your lips kissing tenderly against my aching flesh. Stop whispering the sweet nothings that fall so flat against deafening ears. Do not mistake me to be a fool; especially your fool. Do not take for granted the fact that I can move on. Eventually the words I so sternly repeat will be true. I will not love you the way you want me to. No matter how many different ways your words fall, or how many ways you choose to miss me, I will not come back. To err is human, yet there is no room in my soul for your excuses. I will not allow myself to be thrown into the gallows, and weep for the love of a lifetime. I will not hurt. Not for you, and certainly not for your love. Your emotions have blinded you to a realization that I cannot make clear enough. You have been sadly misguided in the art of soul searching. Your reality says that love hurts, but I find that to be most untrue. I know that love is tender, giving, and most of all--unfading. I can love…just not the way you want me to.
