Love Lies

Raised from birth in a world of lies
Learning of love from the liars
All just words expressed without the emotion
All just thoughts without the affection.

They filled her head, her heart, her soul
Speaking of love, how much they cared
Teaching her their love while slowly draining hers
Teaching her their truth, while slowly killing hers.

So once grown, you wonder why she is
Why the distant look what is it that she wants
So many years of missing something, no one understanding
So many nights of endless tears, no one comforting.

Another love, this time was felt, or so she thought
To actually feel that love for once, inside and out
Nothing could prepare her for such joy, to finally feel
Nothing could prepare her for such pain, to finally see.

So many lessons learned, so many truths distorted
How was she to know that her search was at an end
Confused and hurt, finally aware of what she needs
Lost and drowning, finally aware love is all she wanted.

Finally aware that it was too much for her to ask for.
