I listened to your bedroom squeak
So hard to do when I'm so weak
Knowing that your love was given
Freely and strongly right where we're living
And all I could do was do alone
That thing we'd done in our old home
So long ago when you were mine
Where in God's name's gone the time?
I tried to keep pace with your rhythm
And tried, in silence, to really listen
So maybe I could hear things said
By you, to me, in our love's bed
A moment came and tension passed
I guess this moment was our last
I limped away, alone, ashamed
Of what was left from love once flamed.
