Click heremy end of summer poem ... finally snagged it , when remembering thoughts of past teen summers.~~~~
I visited love on summer vacation,
An amazing conglomeration of days.
The summer seemed to stretch out before me,
Potent with possibility
Then like a flash of a firefly,
Calling to an elusive mate,
It happened to me
Summer romance
I feel for him,
And his lifeguard tan,
The zinc on his nose,
Like a beacon for my love.
Every night I went to bed,
Longing for the feel of sand in my shorts.
Sunburn on my shoulders, left uncovered,
So he could admire them from above.
I dreamt of him during the daytime,
The few seconds he was out of my sight.
We promised unfailing devotion,
In spite of the distance,
We spent long hot romantic afternoons
At the county fair,
and smirkingly scorned
unattatched people on the boardwalk
Then one day, toward the end of august,
I looked for him, and he was gone,
I was told, he had to go back to school
Waiting those last painful few days.
I longed for a phone call,
A note
A message,
Anything.
But, it was the end of summer,
And I had to face the brutal facts.
I visited love on summer vacation,
And all I got was a lousy t-shirt
