The art of loving

practiced by many

mastered by few

To stumble through

learning by apprenticeship

Losing the diamonds amongst

the handfuls of glass

Understand this:

You have taught me

by gentle example

and simple expression.

The intent becomes inherent

both to emotion and form

For my love for you is the canvas

upon which I paint

the remaining fabric of my life.

Thank you my love

for allowing me to dream

and to draw upon your beauty

and to practice

the art of loving.
