Lying in bed
Lower East Side
remembering when
we went for that ride,
West with the night
north to the star
drinking in that
airport bar,

Bottle of wine
hands on each other
new directions
each to discover,
Dirty passports
worn-down shoes
just one pair
of pants to choose,

Met in Algeria
heading to France
each seeking a
second chance,
Not really a couple
just travelers, both
on a worn guide book
we both took an oath,

Be true to your vision
true to the paths
live each day
as it was your last,
Headed to New York
and here we now sleep
memories to share
and those to keep,
