Don't tell me that you've heard the wind-blown wail
that means a distant train is rolling by
or that you stopped, to hear the falling scale
of storm birds crying in an autumn sky
without a sense of loss, without a deep
and desperate longing for what cannot be
and never had to to look away and weep -

oh, to be on that train, or fly there - free!
