I'd known you for, oh say, three or four years,
But just as friends. When you were not involved
With someone else, I was. And so I just
Ignored you as a possibility
For anything beyond a long-time friend,
Until we met by chance upon the street
And pleasant conversation turned to more
Substantial personal concerns and thoughts.

And then we both paused for a second look
At what had been before us all the time.
Despite the hesitation we both felt,
We found ourselves standing beside your bed
And taking off our clothes. Our kisses were
Only mild prelude to a carnal suite.
