I was standing at the bar
With a few of my friends
When you walked into my line of vision
My eyes glazed over
And I started to drool
My heart took command of my body
And it started
Making a fool out of me, over you.
I told my friends how I felt
I know they meant to help
But they started giving advice
And Lord help me, I listened
Telling me to do this and don't do that
Even telling me how to laugh
They started
Making a fool out of me, over you
I started doing silly things just to get your attention
Throwing my head back and laughing real loud
I finally got up the nerve to ask you to dance
My knees were shaking
I felt better when you stuttered a yes
As we walked to the dance floor I looked in your eyes
An electric jolt blew me clear to the sky
Boy, am I glad I started
Making a fool out of me, over you
Years have gone by
The kids are in school
All I have to do is sigh
You just smile and I start
Making a fool out of me, over you
Boy, am I glad I started
Making a fool out of me, over you
