Did I say I need...?
Ok, so I want a new pair of shoes
(or two, maybe three)
See, right there....
The new talents of spring
Propped on display
Like cabaret singers
Draped over piano tops
Glistening under hot stage lights
Sunlight ricochets off their beautiful facets
Through plate glass
That divides them from the masses
The full spectrum of the rainbow
In dazzling hues
Molten metallics and oh-so-dreamy creams
Soft pastels burst like blooming petals
Candied yellows and pinks, cyan skies and sea foam
Mandarin slices of sun
And electric rays dance like magical moonbeams
Majestic purples and blues
Lusciously ripened reds
Heels, arches and vamps cradle my feet
And flirt with my calves and thighs
Stilettos, sling backs and strappy divinities
Grant my hips their own drum roll
Making my hemlines sing and sway
Strutting soldiers give marching orders
So my slacks prance and pivot
Perfectly draping my frame
And my jeans speak in tongues, instinctively
They know just what to say
I know what you must think:
Amorous much?
Smitten with flights of fancy
Over inanimate things
Ok, so I want a new pair of shoes
(or four, maybe five)
But this is essential, you see
For every woman knows
Accessories are the central nervous system
Of any fabulous wardrobe
A little jewelry here, a strategic scarf there
Belts and adornments for shimmering hair
Oh...and please never forget
The obligatory handbag
It's simply punishable by law
But the shoes...the shoes...the shoes
Dahlings, are the heartbeat of it all!
*Snaps...winks...sashays from the room...heels clicking, handbag swinging from the crook of my arm*
