I read you
as simply as checking a shampoo bottle for ingredients
out of boredom when I sit on the toilet to pee.

Your edifice, appealing and attractive,
it makes one want to buy in
to the product you contain.
Pretty colors, nice graphics.

I flip over the bottle
to find out more. More about
this thing that entices me as I pass the time...
and other things.

No sodium laurel sulfate - what?
Contents under pressure. Do not squeeze.
So you must be handled gently?
Are you explosive?

I'm afraid to read the precautions
so I don't. I sit the bottle down,
blot the pee with soft white paper
and wash my hands.

But I return to the bottle,
pick it up, look for the precautions anyway.

There are none.
So I open the lid, and breathe you in.
I'm sold.
