He with his scabbard still hanging,
She, at his front lifting the skirts
Put on her by mother with sisters
That morning,

Now married, pairing,
Willing to taste mouths, and breath
Till present smelt only from distance
'cross space above heads and tables,
Murmur and glances,

Parading years ago,
Feasts, folly and dowry,
His scabbard still hanging
Bedside beside her veil,
Their last breaths are smelt,
Still sweetly shared,
