I am Gandhi
I am Lincoln
I am Christ
I am Che
I am Steve Biko
I am  JFK
I am  Martin Luther King
I am RFK
I have been crucified , flogged , tortured
Poisoned , tortured , shot .....poisoned ....?!
Assassinated in many ways ,
Executed , hung , humiliated
Gassed in Auschwitz
Genocided in Rwanda
Napalm bombed in Viet Nam
Oppressed in Palestine
Segregated in Soweto
Imprisoned in Gulag
Killed in Tianmien square
Yet .....yet ........yet
I have overcome
I have returned
I have overcome
Because
Love is always
Stronger than Hatred
Forgiveness endures ......
When I see divinity in
Tyrants , torturers , secret police
When i forgive them
They learn to forgive themselves
& arisin' from my cut down body
I re-emerge like the Mythical Phoenix
From the ashes .......
Soaring towards Peace , Harmony , Coexistence .......

.............Om ..............Bliss ............Amen

Can a shot president be called a martyr?

?

Che was a murderer turned into a myth - the rest were mainly good guys. I didn't score this poem Ashesh because I don't think that fine sentiments, of themselves, necessarily make good poetry. I've made the same point before on another poem but feel that it is a fairly common issue. But as it's a bee in my bonnet I won't mess up the scoring with my possible prejudice.

hope inspiring

Ash, very hope inspiring, through the constant struggles of man there have always been those exceptional few that can shine a light on the masses and lead in a better way toward a better path
