Maturity

Where have you gone
Children of the night
Are you able to sleep
Or do you lie awake
Unblinking, unchanging
Afraid of tomorrow
Scared to admit the unknown
Into your reality
Do you feel the things I do
Do you even care
Your precious feelings
Cannot be revealed to me
For whether right or wrong
Children are heard
But not listened to

listening

Children are such marvelous little people. On their way to what probably seems like a far off land to them ~ Maturity. I love the heartfelt sentiments of this beautiful poem.

We've all heard the expression,

"Children should be seen and not heard;"

Here the rest of the truth is finally told,

For children may be heard, but whoever listens to them?

Other than a Mother?
