Her heart flinched when she
 heard them.

A generation came and went
    you waited.
To spy openly on energy in
       motion.
Will you give it your name?
If I were to tell you she already knew
what surprises would you hold?
Fully grown an adult was she
and then there was you.
She already knew
and that’s what she liked about him.
There would not be you if she’d
picked other.
How could she not know?
Written on you as it was.
Unfortunate to find
but found nonetheless.
All those years held in check
   held no purpose.
To carry, to nurture, to bring forth,
  to nurture again.
All of it protected nothing
  stopped nothing.
  can heal nothing.
Go ahead and ask.
  I myself have wondered
   then my care’s to forget...
