Mermaid

byashkara©

My heart hurts.
Her beauty calls me,
Beckons blue-green
Like sea whispers.

My heart hurts.
Her tinkled laugh
Like shards of glass
Falls on my naked ears.

My heart hurts.
I long to enfold her,
Become her,
Hold her.

My heart hurts.
Curve of neck,
Crook of elbow,
I ache for her skin.

My heart hurts.
Siren desire,
Lost in her ocean,
Lost in her cool.

My heart hurts
For selkie,
Kelpie,
Mermaid fair.
