My head is heavy
      with a grief too deep
      to be borne
I stand staring into
      a mirror
      gazing into my own eyes
Until I know myself no longer
I cry out
      not knowing the sound of
      my own voice
      not recognizing
      the pain I hear
      quavering on the air
      as my own.
