Milestones

We met with innocence
Working side by side
We found feelings that we couldn't hide.

A milestone loomed before us
Dare we take a chance?
We did - and found romance.

Our love it grew and flourished
With each hug, kiss, and touch
I cannot bear to leave you for I love you very much.

Milestone two was soon upon us
I put miles between us, see,
But miracle of miracles you're still in love with me.

Our love it did not wither
It grew with bounds and leaps
My thoughts are filled with you while in my bed I sleep.

Milestone three became tradition,
You came to visit me.
Our love became a beacon shinning bright and free.

Our times we've spent together
Has lenghtened with each year
And we love each other with hardly any fear.

Another, smaller, milestone
Is one that we have made
As side-by-side together in bed we have laid.

The thought is this:
It may seem wild,
Both of us want another child.

Will the fourth milestone be
The child we want
For you and me?

As our love continues strong
And grows as it has done
We'll cherish all the moments that we have won.

More milestones lay before us
More than we are aware
We'll handle all these milestones because we really care.

there are many milestones on the journey to our final destination, and many journeys along the way, as I took the journey to read your words, the fourth stanza was a bit rocky... but then a again I've read poems intended on being rock quarrys (lol) thanks for the read!
