My life transformed and torn
My snug and calm reality
Sliced with an illusion
Knife cutting, wind biting
Slanted sunlight shattered
To reveal someone I am not
Who I do not recognize
Someone better than I hoped to be
I am not that brave
I do not have that much courage
I was not prepared for the pangs
How can a figment make me yearn?
Pierce a stake through me
And leave emptiness
When I believed I was whole?

Dear Emma,
