Tender in his innocence
he peeks, but dares not stare
a mission of righteous restraint
ringing out like Sunday’s steeples
He delivers vivacious smiles
and nibbles of vulnerability
sweet as cherry pie
bubbling in secrets with me
He feeds me deep inside
somewhere craving to be touched
a careful, shy caress
reaching out, wide-eyed, in trust
But honey, there is nothing going on
he’s a good boy through and through
Honey, there is nothing to fear
I’m still right here with you
He’s got a bible belt quoted tongue
and knuckles quick to knock
vivid visions of government
and a mesmerizing talk
A hand with upturned palm
and fingers beckon too
but honey, it is you I follow
I’m still right here with you
