Whether I listen or talk
Whether I sit or stand
The lessons I have learned
Have made me a better man
I was raised with good intentions
I was taught right from wrong
They gave me a detailed map
But their guidance I had all along
I can hear their words now
I can tell my thoughts are theirs
My decisions are embedded
I have become their heirs
Thank you Mom and Dad
For giving me the tools I need
To keep me moving ahead
Letting me fail and succeed.
With all your shared wisdom
With all you passed to me
Your eyes are my open windows
The distance the future I see.
