I watch you as I fill the two glasses with water
You lay back against the headboard
Where you have turned up the cool side of the pillow
One ankle….resting on your raised knee
A harp-shaped outline of sensual beauty

Smiling with wicked delight
You had seen my shoulders tremble with the sexual strain
You had crashed me headlong against the stars

One might think you almost smug
Even I
Had I not known what pleasure it brought to you
Putting that twinkle in my eye

One hand lay holding the ashtray on your tummy
A celebration of sorts
Breaking our own rules

Cigarette put out, tumbler to you lips
Eyes never leaving mine as I sat at beds edge
Tracing the perspiration on your neck and shoulders
My fingertips rejoicing

Would we be laughing and giggling again shortly?
That is what had got us here…..this time
Like two adolescents playing a rambunctious game of tag
Finding the catching embrace suddenly become a searing need
Thankful the mores of youth no longer encumbered us

Or laying there silently
Basking in the exalting peace that comes when we touch quietly
Conversing through the synapses

Somewhere there is strife and hunger, worry and problems
Here there is only you and me
And Love
