The Moon and the Lovers
The Moon lingered long on the lovers,
And guarded her secret smile.
So enwrapt in the world and each other;
Twin pearls lying cast on drenched sand.
Now long gone are their murmuring kisses,
Long faded the breast and the brow.
For time rushes fast then it quickens,
Sifting lovers to dust in the mouth.
Yet on nights bound to private prediction,
When the moon lights the sand with her smile,
Soft sighs as winds caress like a lover,
The wild rose that he twin'd in her hair, my love.
The wild rose that he twin'd in her hair.
