I have come down early to gaze
out across the bay, past
the remains of the old boat
half-sunken through neglect. The light
lies flat on the water and gulls
scream at the dawn. I am
past screaming. When I arrived
I moored the boat well to secure
a possible getaway; time and habit
both blunted my perception and
corroded my resolve. The wood
burst open in the summer heat
then soaked in winter till the frost
took over. It is useless now,
a broken reminder of how man's
convictions come to nothing, green
with algae, almost gone.

Succinct philosophy

And well worth the reading. :) As always, I love the images you conjure up with such incredible ease!

Over you masterful use of sounds in your work. Definitely a 5.

Could probably cut almost gone.
